Monza and Sassuolo played a 1-1 draw in the Serie A matchday 19 game on Sunday afternoon.
Sunday’s Serie A action continued with the match between Monza and Sassuolo at U-Power Stadium.
Monza’s Gianluca Caprari made a close-range shot inside Sassuolo’s penalty box, but it was blocked. The home team earned a corner kick.
Sassuolo scored in the 13th minute of the game when Gian Marco Ferrari completed Hamed Junior Traore’s cross during the corner kick.
Armand Lauriente charged through to Monza’s penalty box and then fell. Referee Alessandro Prontera did not award a penalty and booked the Sassuolo player for simulation. Later on, Lauriente had a chance to double his team’s advantage, but the ball hit the post after his shot.
Carlos Augusto had an opportunity to score an equalizer, but the ball went just above Gianluca Pegolo’s net. Sassuolo was leading 1-0 at halftime.
Monza had four shots on goal in the opening 15 minutes of the second half, and their efforts paid off in the end. Caprari made the score 1-1 in the 60th minute.
The score pushed the teams to keep attacking in order to get the advantage and score three points that were crucial to both squads. They were exchanging moments, but neither side was able to score again.
