Mike Krack believes that Aston Martin is “on target” regarding its five-year plan to succeed in F1 but admits that an improvement needs to be made in 2023.
After having returned to Formula 1 in 2021, Aston Martin set the goal of winning the title in five years.
While in 2021 the Silverstone-based outfit had a podium finish in Azerbaijan thanks to Sebastian Vettel, the 2022 campaign turned out to be more challenging for them. Nevertheless, Aston Martin finished last season 7th in the Constructors’ Championship, equal on points with Alfa Romeo.
Krack thinks that the team still follows the schedule of the five-year plan but acknowledges that they need to step up this season.
“From the way we started the year, I think we were behind schedule,” the Aston Martin team principal said.
“But I think we caught up quite well. I think in year three, we need to see a clear improvement, a clear step in terms of performance, and yeah, I would say we’re on target.”
