The matches between Lazio and Empoli as well as Spezia and Lecce continued Sunday’s Serie A action. Lazio and Empoli ended the match in the score 2-2 after two late goals from the visitors, while Spezia and Lecce did not score any goals on a rainy afternoon at Stadio Alberto Picco.
Lazio – Empoli
Lazio got an early lead in the match. Felipe Anderson made the score 1-0 after Lazio’s corner kick. After having got an advantage, Lazio kept attacking and had more goal-scoring opportunities. However, the score did not change before halftime.
Another corner could have led to a goal at the start of the second, but the ball touched the outside of the net after Ciro Immobile’s header.
Several minutes later, the home team doubled its advantage after Mattia Zaccagni sent the ball into Guglielmo Vicario’s net.
Francesco Caputo scored a goal after Empoli’s counterattack in the 83rd minute, making the score 2-1 and bringing intrigue in the closing stages of the match.
Empoli did not stop and scored another goal in the 90+3rd minute. Răzvan Marin’s shot from outside Lazio’s box brought his team a draw.
Spezia – Lecce
Heavy rain at Stadio Alberto Picco proved to be a challenge for the players of both teams. They were exchanging moments throughout the first half, but neither of them managed to score after 45 minutes of play. Lecce looked to be closer to scoring as its players hit the post twice in a minute.
Rain intensified ahead of the second half, making the game even more challenging. Spezia had an opportunity to score after M’Bala Nzola went one-on-one with Wladimiro Falcone, but the latter deflected the ball.
No goals were scored in the second half too which meant that Spezia and Lecce earned one point each.
