González’s late goal brings Fiorentina win over Sassuolo

Fiorentina and Sassuolo were the first teams to play in Serie A’s matchday 17. After a goalless first half, both teams scored once within the first 12 minutes of the second half.

Fiorentina got to take the victory at Stadio Artemio Franchi after Nicolás González had scored the winning penalty kick in the added time of the second half.

3′: Jonathan Ikoné got the ball inside Sassuolo’s penalty box after Giacomo Bonaventura’s pass, but did not manage to make a shot.

7′: Rogério made a shot from outside Fiorentina’s penalty box. The attempt was way off target.

10′: Nikola Milenković was booked after having committed a foul.

11′: Domenico Berardi’s free kick was blocked by the players’ wall.

18′: Sassuolo earned a corner kick after Davide Frattesi shot had been saved by Pietro Terracciano.

19′: Hamed Junior Traorè was given a yellow card after his foul on Lorenzo Venuti.

21′: Fiorentina earned a free kick right in front of Sassuolo’s penalty box after Rogério’s foul on Alessandro Bianco.

23′: Cristiano Biraghi’s free kick went above Andrea Consigli’s net.

26′: Ruan Tressoldi was given a yellow card after having held Ikoné up.

28′: Andrea Pinamonti got one-on-one with Terracciano after Sassuolo’s combination. but the Fiorentina goalkeeper had the upper hand.

33′: Rogério’s header went straight into Terracciano’s hands.

36′: Arthur Cabral was left lying on the ground after having fouled on Tressoldi. He kept playing after the assistance of doctors.

Halftime: Riccardo Saponara and Gaetano Castrovilli substituted Cabral and Bianco respectively at Fiorentina.

47′: Venuti’s cross narrowly avoided Consigli’s net.

48′ ⚽: Just several minutes after having joined the game, Saponara scored to put Fiorentina in the lead.

54′: Dodô substituted Venuti at Fiorentina.

56′: Referee Gianluca Manganiello awarded Sassuolo a penalty because of Dodô’s handball.

57′ ⚽: Berardi successfully converted the penalty kick into a goal, making the score 1-1.

59′: Terracciano needed assistance from doctors after having bruised a knee in a collision with Milenković.

66′: Christian Kouamé made a shot without much challenge from opponents, but the ball touched the outside of the net.

69′: Agustín Álvarez substituted Pinamonti at Sassuolo.

72′: Nicolás González substituted Alfred Duncan at Fiorentina.

75′: Castrovilli was booked after his foul on Armand Lauriente

76′: Aleksa Terzić substituted Biraghi at Fiorentina.

80′: Emil Konradsen Ceide substituted Lauriente at Sassuolo.

86′: Consigli kept Sassuolo in the game after having saved González’s header.

90′: Manganiello awarded Sassuolo a penalty following the VAR review due to Tressoldi’s handball.

90’+1 ⚽: González put Fiorentina back in the lead after a successful penalty kick.

90’+2: Grégoire Defrel substituted Traorè at Sassuolo.

90’+4: González was handed a yellow card for a foul.

90’+5: Mangianello gave Berardi a yellow card for having started an argument.

90’+10: Kouamé failed to get to the ball after Saponara’s cross.
