With just hours left until we say goodbye to 2022, Premier League will provide us with six games across New Year’s Eve. Let’s take a closer look at each of them.
Wolves – Manchester United (12:30 p.m. local time)
Both teams won their first games after the World Cup break. Wolves took a crucial 2-1 victory against Everton on Monday, and Man United won 3-0 against Nottingham Forest a day later.
The home team needs points to get out of the relegation zone, while the visitors are just 1 point away from the top 4. It makes the match vital to both squads.
Bournemouth – Crystal Palace (3 p.m. local time)
Both teams from this matchup lost their previous games. Saturday’s match will be crucial to both Bournemouth and Crystal Palace in the battle right outside the top 10 in the standings.
Fulham – Southampton (3 p.m. local time)
Fulham beat Crystal Palace 3-0 on Monday to strengthen their position in the top 10. Meanwhile, Southampton lost their fourth Premier League match in a row and stay at the bottom of the standings. However, a win could change everything for the Saints.
Manchester City – Everton (3 p.m. local time)
Man City will play their second game in four days after having beaten Leeds United on Wednesday. This might become an advantage for Everton who had two days more of rest. The Toffees need to score points to make a gap from the relegation zone.
Newcastle United – Leeds United (3 p.m. local time)
Newcastle’s miraculous run this year continued with the 3-0 victory over Leicester City. Tottenham’s draw with Brentford on Monday allowed Newcastle to increase the advantage over the London club to 3 points. Leeds had a difficult match against Man City on Wednesday which they lost 3-1.
Brighton – Arsenal (5:30 p.m. local time)
Both teams are approaching the game in a good mood. Arsenal was victorious in the match against West Ham on Monday. The Premier League leaders won the match 3-1 to keep their momentum from the pre-World Cup stint.
Brighton also won their latest match 3-1. They did it on the road against Southampton.
