Former Brazilian soccer player Pele’s health was improving but there was still no forecast as to when he might be released from the hospital after being admitted late last month, according to a medical report published Monday.
Pelé, 82, who won three world titles and is considered by many to be the greatest footballer in history, has been battling colon cancer since September 2021 and was hospitalized on November 29 for doctors to reassess his treatment.
He is also being treated for a respiratory infection diagnosed after his hospitalization.
“Even without a discharge prognosis, the patient continues to present an improvement in his clinical status, especially the respiratory infection. He remains in a common room, is conscious and with stable vital signs,” said the medical staff of the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo.
