The faith of group E was to be decided by the last game of the group stage. A crazy game between Costa Rica and Germany. Many occasions by both sides and the two goals by Havertz, the one by Gnabry, Füllkrug, Tejeda, and Pablo Vargas kept the public entertained. In the end, Germany won 2-4, but since Japan beat Spain, it was knocked out as well as Costa Rica.
8′: A fantastic cross by Goretzka found Thomas Müller alone inside the box. However, the German missed the target with a header.

42: Costa Rica was close to drawing the match. A huge inattention by the German’s defense made it possible for Fuller to find himself alone ahead of Neuer. Germany was saved by its goalkeeper, who made an absolute miracle.
