AL KHOR, QATAR - DECEMBER 01: Juan Pablo Vargas of Costa Rica scores a goal to make it 2-1 during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Group E match between Costa Rica and Germany at Al Bayt Stadium on December 1, 2022 in Al Khor, Qatar. (Photo by Robbie Jay Barratt - AMA/Getty Images)

The faith of group E was to be decided by the last game of the group stage. A crazy game between Costa Rica and Germany. Many occasions by both sides and the two goals by Havertz, the one by Gnabry, Füllkrug, Tejeda, and Pablo Vargas kept the public entertained. In the end, Germany won 2-4, but since Japan beat Spain, it was knocked out as well as Costa Rica.

8′: A fantastic cross by Goretzka found Thomas Müller alone inside the box. However, the German missed the target with a header.

10′: Just two minutes later, Germany went into the lead with Gnabry. The striker exploited Raum’s cross from the left and made it 0-1 for Germany.

14′: Another excellent occasion for Germany. This time it was Goretzka who tried to score. However, a miracle by Navas kept Costa Rica’s hopes alive.

39′: Only Germany. A solo action by Gnabry brought Germany close to 2-0. The German striker shot inside the box and almost scored by sending the ball into the top right bin.

42: Costa Rica was close to drawing the match. A huge inattention by the German’s defense made it possible for Fuller to find himself alone ahead of Neuer. Germany was saved by its goalkeeper, who made an absolute miracle.

58′: Costa Rica tied the game. Yeltsin Tejeda was the quickest on the ball after the save by Manuel Neuer and scored to make it 1-1.

60′: Musiala hits the post. Germany was close to scoring the second goal, but they were unlucky this time.

62′: Rüdiger went close to scoring, too. However, the ball went out, not by much.

67′: Musiala hit the post again. The ball just did not want to go in.

70′: Costa Rica ahead. Juan Pablo Vargas exploited a chaotic situation in the box and found a way to score, making it 2-1.

72′: Kai Havertz tied the game for Germany, which did not want to give up.

76′: Miracle by Navas, who keeps the result to 2-2. Füllkrug only had to push the ball in, but the goalkeeper saved it on the line.

84′: Germany ahead again. Once again, Kai Havertz found himself alone in the box and made it 2-3.

89′: Füllkrug makes it 2-4. A nice cross for Sané, who perfectly leaves the ball for his teammate, who scores.
