FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem stated that they are ready to investigate Sergio Perez’s crash in Monaco if the formal complaint is made.
Max Verstappen did switch positions with Perez after Red Bull’s request at the end of the Sao Paulo GP.
After the incident, reports emerged that Verstappen did not let Perez past because the Mexican had allegedly crashed on purpose during the Monaco GP qualifying, costing the Dutchman a shot at the pole position.
Ben Sulayem revealed that the FIA is not going to investigate Perez’s crash unless a formal complaint is made.
“I didn’t have anyone who said we want to investigate it from our side,” he said.
“But if there is something to be investigated, we are more than happy. One thing truly I would say, I’m not shy or afraid of conducting or going into it if there is an issue. I will not hide.
“I will be even raising my hand and saying [if] there is an issue with the FIA. Otherwise, if I cannot do this, you will never improve and never evolve. That I can guarantee.”
