Lewis Hamilton has praised his team for the “incredible result” it achieved at the Brazilian Grand Prix, where he finished in second place behind his teammate George Russell.
The weekend looked promising for Mercedes as they finished Saturday’s Sprint race in first and third place. Sunday came and it was Russell who took the victory of the race, with Hamilton in a close second. However, not everything was smooth for the 7-time World Champion, as he suffered an incident with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who was later given a 5-second time penalty for the collision.
“You know how it is with Max,” Hamilton said when reflecting on the incidents.
“Firstly, congratulations to George,” he said. “What an amazing drive he did today. He did an amazing qualifying yesterday and he truly deserves it.
“For my team, so proud of everyone back at the factory and here. This is an incredible result.
“We have worked so hard this year to get a 1-2 and a win. Big thank you to everyone.”
