Sergio Perez stated that the Mexico City GP qualifying was a “total mess” for him because of an electrical issue.
Perez finished Saturday’s qualifying at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in 4th place. The Red Bull Racing driver was 0.353 seconds slower than polesitter Max Verstappen.
After the session, Perez revealed that he had encountered an electrical problem with his car.
“It was a mess, a total mess,” he said.
“We had an electrical issue from the beginning [of the session], and if I look back at my qualifying, I was nearly knocked out in Q1 and Q2.
“I had no reference to progress and no lap times either. Sometimes I could not even figure out where I was with my brake balance either, so it was a total mess.
“In the end, I think fourth is not the worst, but we certainly could have been quite a lot higher than where we are.”
