Yuki Tsunoda admitted that he felt “really happy” after having scored points at the United States GP.

Tsunoda had not finished in the top 10 since the Spanish GP in May. The AlphaTauri driver broke the streak at COTA.

Despite a grid penalty for a fresh gearbox, Tsunoda crossed the finish line in 10th place last Sunday and was promoted to P9 after Fernando Alonso’s time penalty.

“It was a really, really hard race, but yeah, happy to be back in the top 10. It’s a shame that the last compound, was pretty much slower than I expected, but the stint with the Medium tire was positive,” he said.

“I would say I’m really happy and I would say mainly, I’m glad that I was able to score points and thanks to [Red Bull founder] Mr. Mateschitz, who passed away yesterday [on Saturday], that we were able to bring him at least a little bit of positive and yeah, I’m pretty happy.”
