Moneygram, Haas’s newest Formula 1 title sponsor, said they won’t have influence in the decision of the driver line-up for the 2023 season.
The American team welcomed Moneygram as their new title sponsor this Thursday. However, the US-based payments company doesn’t have any association with the favorites for next year’s seat, which are Nico Hulkenberg and Antonio Giovinazzi, although Mick Schumacher has not been ruled out yet.
Speaking about the situation, Moneygram’s marketing director Greg Hall said the company would leave all decision power respecting the line-up to team boss Guenther Steiner.
“From our perspective we have full faith in Guenther,” Hall said. “This is not a decision for us. This is a racing decision, and we have full confidence in him, and we’re excited about whatever decision they do make.”
Alex Holmes, Moneygram’s chairman and CEO, showed no preference over who will accompany Kevin Magnussen next year.
“We want to be helpful, we want to be involved,” he said. “We want to have the right brand representation, to have the right partnership globally.
“Obviously, the drivers play a big role in that. It was great to chat with Mick this morning a little bit. He’s a great young driver,
“We’ll take Guenther’s lead on that. And whoever’s driving for the team, we’ll give them all the support in the world.”
