Nicholas Latifi admitted that the 9th place finish at the Japanese Grand Prix was a “nice morale boost” for him.

Latifi scored his first points in the 2022 season at Suzuka. The Williams driver capitalized on the early switch to the Intermediate tires and crossed the finish line in P9.

“The beginning was quite tricky with the red flag and the delays,” Latifi said.

“We made the right decision to pit straightaway for the Inters which was critical in jumping the cars ahead of us.

“I struggled at the end with the front tires, but I’m extremely happy to hold on and get my first points of the season.

“Overall, I’m really happy for the team and it’s a nice morale boost.”
