George Russell will start the Singapore GP from the pit lane after having received new power unit components.
Russell did not manage to advance to Q3 in Saturday’s qualifying. After the session, the Mercedes driver revealed that he had encountered mechanical issues.
Mercedes decided to replace an internal combustion engine, turbocharger, MGU-H, MGU-K, energy store, and control electronics in Russell’s car, exceeding the limit of used elements for a season. The Briton also received a new exhaust system.
All the components had been installed without the approval of the FIA technical delegate which means that Russell will start the race from the pit lane.
