Fernando Alonso believes that he will reach the milestone of 400 race starts in his Formula 1 career.
Alonso is set to beat Kimi Raikkonen’s record of the most race starts in F1 in Singapore. It will be the Spaniard’s 350th start.
The 41-year-old is not leaving the championship any time soon. Alonso will join Aston Martin on a multi-year deal in 2023.
“I know the number [of starts] because every weekend we keep repeating it, but I’m not into this so much,” he commented on the matter.
“I’m happy to be in Formula 1 for so many years, and with the two more coming, or whatever, however long I will be in Formula 1.
“I will reach 400 for sure, so that’s a big number. It shows my passion for the sport and my discipline to perform at a high level.
“If you are not performing, the team will not give you 400 Grands Prix, for sure.”
