Carlos Sainz believes that he had a “good qualifying session” at Monza on Saturday.
Sainz ended the Italian GP qualifying in 3rd place. However, he will have to start the race from the back of the grid due to engine components changes.
The Spaniard was pleased with his performance but admitted that he had to “take risks” because of a lack of tow.
“It was honestly a good qualifying session. I was feeling very well. I was pushing flat out in Q1 and Q2, in Q3. I didn’t have a tow. That cost me two or three tenths for pole position, but I am starting last anyway tomorrow, so that doesn’t change my life,” Sainz commented.
“I had to take a lot of risks to compensate for the lack of tow. I was faster in every corner but slower on every straight, and in the end, I couldn’t improve much.”
