Pierre Gasly revealed that his first laps behind the wheel after an illness were “a slap in the face”.
Gasly missed Thursday track activities at Monza due to an illness. The Frenchman was cleared to compete on Friday and he took part in both FP1 and FP2. Gasly was 13th and 14th in those sessions.
“I must say the first few laps were a bit of a slap in the face after being on the sofa and in bed for pretty much the last 72 hours,” the AlphaTauri driver said.
“We knew it would be difficult, but this [Friday] morning was the best I’ve felt over the last four days. I’m still not feeling 100%, but it was good enough to drive and tomorrow [on Saturday] I should be again feeling better.”
