Former Alfa Romeo driver Antonio Giovinazzi hopes to get a Formula 1 seat for the 2023 season after driving practice sessions for the Haas team.
The Italian driver drove Free Practice 1 for Haas this Friday at the Italian Grand Prix and is due to participate in another session at the United States Grand Prix.
When asked about his chances for a seat next year, Giovinazzi said he “doesn’t know. It’s not a question that you will ask me.”
“I want to be here next year, for sure. It’s not a secret. But it’s not in my hands.
“So, let’s see what we can do. For now I focus on doing a great job in these two sessions. One is over. Then we have another one.
“I know that if I’m doing a good job it’s a possibility and there’s a chance there.
“But it’s not in my hands. So let’s see what we can do in Austin. I think the team was happy, Guenther [Steiner] was happy, so I’m happy as well. And then see what we can do.”
