MP Motorsport’s Felipe Drugovich is the winner of the Formula 2 Feature Race at Zandvoort.
Polesitter Felipe Drugovich kept the lead at the start of the race. Jack Doohan was in 2nd place, while Dennis Hauger moved up to P3.
The Safety Car was deployed moments later after Logan Sargeant had hit the barrier heavily following a collision with Ralph Boschung. The Carlin driver left the car by himself. Later on, the race was suspended to allow the marshals to repair the barrier.
The racing action resumed with a rolling start. Drugovich stayed in front, with Doohan and Hauger behind.
Hauger was the first driver among the leaders to make a mandatory pit stop. Drugovich and Doohan went to the pits several laps later. They rejoined the track in front of Hauger.
The left front tire of Marino Sato’s car detached and the Virtuosi Racing driver hit the barrier. The Safety Car returned to the track.
Liam Lawson was in the lead when the race was restarted. Later on, it was confirmed that the race would be limited on time – 60 minutes plus one lap.
Drugovich took the lead back after the drivers ahead of him pitted. Richard Verschoor and Ayumu Iwasa were in the top 3. The MP Motorsport driver was almost 2 seconds ahead of Verschoor on lap 34. At the same time, Iwasa was within a second of the Dutchman.
Drugovich won his 5th race of the 2022 season. Verschoor finished 2nd on home soil, and Iwasa completed the top 3.
