Sergio Perez explained what led to the spin he had in the final Q3 attempt in the Dutch GP qualifying.
Perez ended Saturday’s qualifying at Zandvoort in P5. However, the Mexican spun at the end of his final Q3 lap. Yellow flags were out which did not allow the drivers behind to continue their flying laps.
After the session, Perez spoke about what had happened.
“I went in alright, but I just tried to pick up the throttle too early and touched the gravel a little bit,” he told Sky Sports.
“I was on a good lap, but unfortunately I didn’t manage to improve.”
Perez added: “It’s going to be a tricky one to make some progress early on, but I will try my best. I will try to have strong race pace tomorrow. I think that will be very important.
“We are on a good strategy and we have good options for tomorrow.
“Hopefully, we are able to go by [the cars ahead] and have a strong race.”
