Felipe Drugovich was the quickest driver in the Formula 2 qualifying at Zandvoort, with Jack Doohan and Logan Sargeant behind.
The whole F2 field was on the race track in the opening stages of qualifying to set flying laps.
Championship leader Felipe Drugovich took provisional pole early on. Shortly after, Jack Doohan beat the Brazilian’s lap time. Dennis Hauger was in P3 at that moment.
Drugovich’s championship rival Theo Pourchaire had a crash at turn 3. The session had to be suspended to remove the Frenchman’s car from the track.
The track was busy as soon as qualifying was resumed. Ayumu Iwasa and Logan Sargeant got to the top 3, but they were unable to catch Doohan. Meanwhile, the Australian improved his lap time.
Iwasa got to the top of the timesheets but not for long as several drivers beat his lap time. Drugovich came back to the lead. Doohan also made an improvement, but it was not enough for P1.
Qualifying was red-flagged for the second time. Jehan Daruvala spun and stopped at the race track.
Though there were almost 4 minutes left in the session, Drugovich left his car and observed the conclusion of qualifying from the pit lane.
In the end, Drugovich took the Feature Race pole position. Doohan and Sargeant were 2nd and 3rd respectively.
