Felipe Drugovich has claimed the Feature Race pole position in the Formula 2 qualifying in Belgium.
Friday’s racing action at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps concluded with the F2 qualifying.
After a five-minute delay, the session went underway. The track was dry enough for slick tires.
Jack Doohan spun at La Source. The car was not damaged and the Virtuosi Racing driver rejoined the track shortly after. Several minutes later, Juri Vips also had a spin at sector 1. The Hitech GP driver stopped at the track. The session was red-flagged.
Marcus Armstrong was in the provisional pole spot. Dennis Hauger and Logan Sargeant followed him in the top 3. Championship leader Felipe Drugovich beat Armstrong’s lap time halfway through the session.
Lirim Zendeli, who was replacing Olli Caldwell at Campos Racing, had a puncture and came back to the pits for new tires with 8 minutes to go.
David Beckmann had a chance of setting a new fastest lap but had to go off the track because of traffic at the Bus Stop chicane.
Lap times were improving in the closing stages of qualifying. Nevertheless, Drugovich was still at the top of the timesheets, seven-tenths ahead of Doohan.
The MP Motorsport driver was unreachable and took the pole position for Sunday’s Feature Race. Enzo Fittipaldi ended qualifying in P2, while Sargeant completed the top 3.
Ralph Boschung finished the session 10th and got the Sprint Race pole position.
