Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko stated that there is no exit clause in Pierre Gasly’s contract with AlphaTauri.
Following the announcement of Fernando Alonso’s switch to Aston Martin in 2023, Alpine stated that Oscar Piastri will drive for the team next year. However, the Australian, who is linked with a McLaren seat, denied it several hours later.
Alpine will have to look for another driver if Piastri joins McLaren. Gasly, who has a contract with AlphaTauri until the end of 2023, may have been one of the contenders.
Marko ruled out the possibility of the Frenchman’s move to Alpine.
“There is no exit clause [for] Gasly,” he told Sport1.
“There was none before the summer break and there will be none after the summer break.”
AlphaTauri team principal Franz Tost noted that Gasly will be Red Bull’s primary choice in case one of the seats becomes vacant.
“It makes no sense for Red Bull to let Pierre go.
“If a Red Bull driver fails, there is no other adequate driver who can step in. Only Gasly can do that.”
