Haas team principal Guenther Steiner revealed that they have not begun contract negotiations with Mick Schumacher.
Schumacher’s contract with Haas is expiring this year. Though the German had difficulties in the first half of the season, he scored his first world championship points and achieved his best finish of 6th place at the Austrian GP.
Steiner admitted that Haas have not started talks regarding a new deal with Schumacher as of now.
“I don’t really know what Mick has done, and we have not spoken about a drive for next year with Mick,” he said on the RacingNews365.com podcast.
“He hasn’t spoken to us and we haven’t spoken to him – we want to see what’s happening.
“This Aston Martin thing happened very quickly and so nobody had time to really think about it but there were rumors he [Schumacher] could replace Vettel but that went away pretty quick.
“We didn’t look at what other people were doing.”
