Max Verstappen noted that effective strategy was one of the factors that helped him get the Hungarian Grand Prix victory.
After having started Sunday’s race in Budapest from P10, Verstappen won his 8th race of the season despite having a spin at one point. The Dutchman emphasized the importance of strategy.
“I was hoping I could get close to a podium. Very tricky conditions out there but I think we had a really good strategy. Always reactive and pitting at the right time. Really good out laps and even with the 360 spin we won the race,” Verstappen said after the race.
Verstappen also revealed what caused his spin on lap 42 of 70: “I was struggling with the shifts and clutch. We had to change a few things to not burn the clutch and that cost us some performance and that led to the spin.”
