Carlos Sainz has missed out on the Pole position to George Russell for Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix but is hopeful his team can come out victorious during the race.
Russell surprised everyone on Saturday as he took the Pole for tomorrow’s race, leaving both Ferrari drivers behind him. Speaking after qualifying, Sainz said he had the pace to claim Pole, and is hopeful his team will win on Sunday.
“[I’m] definitely feeling better and better every race and every qualifying session. Today I felt like I had the pace to do Pole position.
“I think we have the pace [to win]. Obviously, the start and tire management will play a key role like always.
“The Mercedes pace is a bit of an unknown and we will have to see how the race plays out tomorrow. If we get them at the start, better,” he concluded.
