Kevin Magnussen admitted that Haas have “some work to do” in order to maximize the performance of their car.
Magnussen got to drive the revised VF-22 car for the first time on Friday. The Dane was 17th in FP1 and 16th in FP2.
When asked whether the new-spec car felt better, Magnussen replied: “Initially not so because it’s hard to get the set-up completely right for the first runs. But it doesn’t feel bad at all.
“There’s some positive new characteristics that are going to be interesting to explore. But there’s some work to do to it to really get the maximum out of it.”
At the same time, Magnussen assumed that the Hungaroring does not suit Haas in the first place.
“We don’t look so competitive here this weekend, but I think that’s more just that maybe we’re not so competitive in Budapest.
“We’ve seen before that we can turn things around. And there’s certainly more to find with these new parts.”
