Nicholas Latifi set the quickest lap time in the final free practice session of the Hungarian GP that was held in wet conditions.
After hot conditions on Friday, the weather dramatically changed on Saturday at the Hungaroring. The race track was wet ahead of FP3 after torrential rain. Charles Leclerc was the first driver to get to the race track.
Though Wet tires seemed to be an obvious choice for the opening stages of the practice, Fernando Alonso had Intermediates on his Alpine. Several minutes later, Leclerc reported that Intermediate tires would be a good option. Meanwhile, his teammate Carlos Sainz was cautious about it.
Turn 4 proved to be a tricky spot on Saturday afternoon as several drivers went wide there.
Drivers switched their focus to Intermediate tires in the final third of the session. However, managing the car on that compound was a challenge. Lewis Hamilton and Daniel Ricciardo were complaining about the lack of grip. Sebastian Vettel went off the track several times. Leclerc spun at sector 1 but did not damage the car.
Vettel lost control of his car and hit the barrier at sector 2. The session was red-flagged and the Aston Martin driver left his car.
Nicholas Latifi set the fastest lap time of the session at the checkered flag. Leclerc and Alexander Albon followed him in the top 3.
