Lewis Hamilton explained DRS issues denied him a better result at the qualifying session for tomorrow’s Hungarian Grand Prix.
George Russell surprised everyone by taking Pole position for tomorrow’s race but left the rest wondering why the British driver outperformed his teammate Lewis Hamilton, who qualified in 7th.
Speaking after the session, Hamilton attributed his poor performance to an issue with the Drag Reduction System.
“[I] tried to open the DRS and it wouldn’t open. Unfortunate,” Hamilton said. “I was feeling great, for sure front-row was there.
“It would have been awesome to get front-row for the team. But these things happen.
“Congratulations to George. It’s a great result for the team, considering all we’ve been through. It’s huge.”
