Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack revealed that they will start looking for a driver who will replace Sebastian Vettel “from Monday onwards”.
Vettel’s retirement from F1 at the end of the 2022 season means that there is a vacant seat at Aston Martin for 2023. Krack confirmed that they will begin looking for a new driver soon.
“It’s clear that speculation is now starting, so I think this weekend, we should really keep [Vettel] in focus and not speculate about names,” he said.
“We will take care of that from Monday onwards, and then when we have someone, we will announce it.”
Nevertheless, Krack admitted that Nyck de Vries is one of the contenders for the seat.
“Nyck is one of many, many drivers. I know him through the Formula E times. He is a nice chap.
“He drove the Williams, he drove the Mercedes, so he’s one of the drivers we’re looking at, but just as [we are looking at] others as well.”
