Ayumu Iwasa wins the Formula 2 Feature Race at the Circuit Paul Ricard ahead of Theo Pourchaire and Frederik Vesti.
Jack Doohan had an impressive getaway and took the lead at turn 1 after having started 4th. However, Ayumu Iwasa overtook the Virtuosi Racing driver later on the opening lap. Polesitter Logan Sargeant was in P3.
Marino Sato and Marcus Armstrong stopped at different sections of the track following lap 1 incidents. The Safety Car was deployed. Dennis Hauger was involved in the incident with Armstrong and had to go to the pits to fix the car.
Iwasa managed to make a gap from Doohan at the restart, so his lead was not under threat. Meanwhile, Jehan Daruvala defended his 10th place by going around the outside of Roy Nissany at Signes.
Theo Pourchaire was the first driver from the top 5 to make a mandatory pit stop. He rejoined the track in P12. Sargeant did the same after lap 12. However, the Carlin driver was not able to get going and retired from the race.
Doohan pitted at the end of lap 14. He rejoined the track right in front of Pourchaire. The Frenchman had better tire temperature, so he made a pass. Iwasa had his pit stop a lap later and managed to stay ahead of his opponents after it. Liam Lawson inherited the lead.
Iwasa took the race lead back after Daruvala’s pit stop on lap 19. Doohan tried to overtake Pourchaire for P2 at turn 8, but had a spin. The Australian lost P3 to Frederik Vesti. Pourchaire had to go off the track to avoid a collision, but saved his position.
Richard Verschoor reported fire in his car and stopped on the main straight on the final lap, triggering yellow flags.
Iwasa was out of reach for the opponents and went on to win his first F2 race. ART GP teammates Pourchaire and Vesti completed the podium.
