The FIA has confirmed that Carlos Sainz exceeded the limit of control electronics used for the season and will get a 10-place grid penalty at the French GP.
Ahead of the race weekend at Le Castellet, Sainz revealed that he might get new power unit components that would result in a grid penalty for him.
During FP1, the FIA released a document which confirmed Sainz got his third control electronics. The Spaniard exceeded the limit, so he will get a 10-place grid penalty for Sunday’s race.
A new energy store was also installed on Sainz’s car. It is his second of the season, which is allowed by the rules.
