Daniel Ricciardo stated that he does not have the intention to leave McLaren before his contract ends.
Apart from the victory at the 2021 Italian GP, Ricciardo struggled to get up to speed at McLaren and he was regularly outperformed by his teammate Lando Norris.
That fueled talks about the Australian’s possible departure from the team before the current deal expires at the end of 2023. Ricciardo commented on the matter on social media and confirmed that he stays committed to the team.
“There have been a lot of rumors about my future in Formula 1, but I want you to hear it from me. I am committed to McLaren until the end of next year and am not walking away from the sport,” he said.
“Appreciate it hasn’t always been easy, but who wants easy!
“I’m working my ass off with the team to make improvements and get the car right and back to the front where it belongs. I still want this more than ever. See you in Le Castellet.”
