Kevin Magnussen is surprised at the competitiveness of his Haas car despite a lack of upgrades compared to the rest of the field.
The team had a strong showing at Silverstone as both cars finished inside the top 10, and in the most recent of performances both Magnussen and his teammate, Mick Schumacher, got to Q3 for the Austrian Grand Prix qualifying.
“It’s a good car this year, it looked strong ever since the beginning really,” Magnussen said.
“We’ve had some tough races and some qualifying that were not good, but most times, we’ve been pretty competitive. We just had a bit of bad luck. Hopefully, things will turn around and we can be more regularly scoring points.
“At this point in the year, to still be this competitive, it’s a little bit surprising, I have to say, and very comforting.”
