Former Formula 1 driver Roberto Merhi will replace Ralph Boschung at Campos Racing during Formula 2 race weekend in Austria.
Boschung was forced to miss six races so far this season due to neck pain. The Swiss driver would also be unable to compete in Spielberg this week. It was announced that Merhi would replace Boschung at the Red Bull Ring.
The Spaniard will become the oldest driver to take part in a Formula 2 race. Merhi will be 31 years and 109 days old this Saturday when the Sprint Race is taking place.
“[I am] happy to announce that I will be back in a Formula 2 car this weekend after four years,” Merhi wrote on social media.
“Last time I was driving in a Formula 2 car was in 2018 in Abu Dhabi where I finished in the podium with Campos. I would like to thank Ralph Boschung and Campos for giving me the opportunity to drive his car this weekend. I hope he gets well soon!”
