Marko: Perez “perfect” teammate for Verstappen as he “doesn’t try to fight”

Red Bull Racing advisor Helmut Marko believes that Sergio Perez is a “perfect” teammate for Max Verstappen.

Verstappen and Perez are teammates at Red Bull for the second season. They were not involved in on-track fights during that time. Furthermore, the Mexican was told to let his teammate pass in Spain and Azerbaijan this year and Verstappen went on to win those races. At the same time, Perez won two races with Red Bull – in Azerbaijan in 2021 and in Monaco in 2022.

Marko thinks that this makes Perez a “perfect” teammate for Verstappen.

“Max can drive any car fast. That’s why having Sergio Perez as his teammate is perfect,” Marko commented in an interview for The Red Bulletin.

“Checo doesn’t try to fight but does everything he can, and that can lead to victory as it did in Baku last season. The two work very well together.”
