Lewis Hamilton stated that he did his best to fight Ferrari drivers and Sergio Perez during Sunday’s British GP.
Hamilton was among the contenders for the race win at Silverstone at one point, but in the end crossed the finish line in the 3rd place. After the race, the Briton was grateful for Mercedes’ efforts to improve the car throughout the season.
“I gave it everything, tried to chase the Ferrari but they were too quick. I was in the battle with Checo [Perez], they were too quick for me on the straights,” Hamilton said.
“Thanks to the team for the hard work with the updates, we’ve made a step closer to them. We lost time in the pit stop, and then I was chasing. The pace was great on both sets, once you have a Red Bull behind they are so fast on the straights.”
Hamilton also greeted the fans: “I have to give it up to the crowd. Thank you to everyone for the incredible support, we don’t see this around the world.
“I am glad everyone was safe from the big crash. We will continue to push, let’s try and be the best we can.”
