Sebastian Vettel believes that top 10 result in qualifying and race will be Aston Martin’s goal for the Canadian GP.
Vettel had a strong start to the race weekend in Montreal. The German was 9th in FP1 and 4th in FP2.
Vettel admitted that experiments with set-up helped improve performance of the revised version of the AMR22 car.
“We didn’t have any new parts in the last couple of races, but I think we’ve been able to experiment a little bit more with set-up and tuning it a little bit more and understanding more where the car wants to be, because you have to bear in mind that,” he said.
“In Barcelona, it was a basically brand new car and we had no experience with that car yet.
“And if we managed to find a little bit extra then immediately it starts to start to pay off a little better. So let’s see, I like the track and hopefully, we have a nice weekend.”
Vettel also shared his thoughts about Aston Martin’s goal for the race weekend: “I think we need to be realistic.
“Finishing in the points for us is a major success. Obviously, we had two positions that we’ve benefitted in Baku because of the Ferraris not finishing.
“But yeah, I think if we can get in that range, if we can qualify around P10 and then race a race there as well then I think that’s good for us.”
