Toto Wolff admits that he is concerned that Lewis Hamilton may be ruled out of the Canadian GP because of back pain.
Hamilton had to fight through back pain caused by porpoising throughout the race weekend in Baku. The issue became even more serious during the race. After the checkered flag, the Briton revealed that he “biting down on my teeth through the pain.”
Wolff commented on the situation: “He’s really bad. We have just got to find a solution. At this stage I think he is maybe the worst affected from all drivers. But pretty much everyone, as far as I understood from the drivers, said that something needs to happen.”
When asked whether there were concerns that Hamilton might not be fit for the Canadian GP, Wolff replied: “Yeah, definitely. I haven’t seen him and I haven’t spoken to him afterwards, but you can see this is not muscular anymore.
“I don’t think this is only Lewis’ issue. He’s the one that is probably worst affected. But generally, it also affects George and many others.
“The solution could be to have someone on reserve, which we anyway have at every race, to make sure that our cars are running.”
