Max Verstappen is happy to have won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after a disappointing qualifying in which he placed P3.
The Dutch driver won the race praising the pace of its Red Bull, although he also benefitted from the problems faced by Ferrari the retirements of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc.
“You can never make up for what you lost last year, but today we had an incredible pace on the car,” he said post-race. “We could really look after the tires and chip away at it.
“Maybe [we were] a bit tiny lucky with the retirements but our car was really good today.”
