Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has confirmed that they will continue working on fixing car issues next week in Canada.

Mercedes are forced to work on the car issues during race weekends due to lack of testing time. Wolff believes that it they had more time to work on the car, performance would improve.

“I imagine if we would have a day or two of testing we would make a big step. But it is what it is, that’s the constraint for everybody,” he said.

After the Azerbaijan GP, F1 will go to Canada the following week. Wolff has revealed that the Silver Arrows will not change their approach to working with the car.

“I think we just need to approach the race weekends more from an experimental side. We are, at the moment, not in the hunt for a race win on merit. I think we are a good [way] behind the top teams.

“We just need to see those sessions, maybe not with the view of optimizing the single session, but with a view of understanding. This is what we are doing and this is what we are going to do tomorrow [on Sunday] and in Montreal.”
