Charles Leclerc has set the fastest lap time of the second free practice session of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Carlos Sainz was the first driver to go out for FP2, followed by multiple others. The first flying lap was set by AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda, with a time of 1:46.351, with Fernando Alonso behind him.

However, those times were not representative of the lap times around Baku. Charles Leclerc, minutes later, set the fastest flying lap with a time of 1:43.806, followed by teammate Carlos Sainz by only +0.125s.

The McLaren duo seemed to struggle again as both Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo were having issues to set a significant lap time around the circuit, and placed 16th and 17th respectively.

Alonso showed Alpine’s strong form in Baku as the Spaniard was in the top 5 halfway through. Meanwhile, Alexander Albon touched the wall in sector 3 and damaged the car.

The Baku City Circuit proved to be a challenging venue once again as drivers were usually going off the track.

Drivers spent the closing stages of FP2 working on long runs. Leclerc reported to the team that he had a power loss. However, the Monegasque was told there were no issues.

Leclerc was on top of the timesheets in FP2. Red Bull Racing teammates Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen followed him in the top 3.
