Max Verstappen believes that his relationship with Sergio Perez will not change in case they get to fight for the world title.

After Perez’s victory at the Monaco GP, the gap between Red Bull Racing drivers in the standings was down to 15 points. It means that the Mexican may join Verstappen and Leclerc in the battle for the championship.

Though fighting for the title may affect relationship between teammates, Verstappen does not think it will be the case with him and Perez.

“Why would that change? We work really well as a team,” he said.

“We always try to optimize the car and work for the team and we can accept when somebody does a good job or does a better job and I think that’s very important because that’s how you are respectful to each other and yeah, may the best man win at the end, right?

“We always, of course, try to do the best we can on the track but we also respect each other a lot and try to score the most possible points every single weekend for the team.”
