George Russell states that he is delighted with his results this year given the level of Mercedes’ performance.
Though Mercedes are yet to unlock the potential of the W13 car, Russell showed consistency as he had finished in the top 5 of every race in 2022. Furthermore, he was on podium twice – in Spain and Australia.
Russell admitted that he had expected better results at the start of the season, but was happy with how things unfolded given current situation.
“I think if you told me prior to the season that we’d be seven races in and I wouldn’t have a victory to my name, I would have definitely been a bit disappointed with that,” he said.
“But I think given the pace of the car and given where we’ve been as a team, I’ve been reasonably pleased with how I’ve performed.
“I think the results have been maximized. I don’t see many races where we could have achieved better results, but [there’s] definitely room to improve.”
