Drugovich gets F2 Feature Race pole in Monaco

Felipe Drugovich has inherited the pole position for Formula 2 Feature Race in Monaco after Liam Lawson and Ayumu Iwasa were penalized.

Lawson was initially the quickest driver in F2 qualifying at the Circuit de Monaco. However, he set his fastest lap under yellow flags caused by Drugovich’s crash at Anthony Noghes.

As a result, the Carlin driver’s time was deleted and he dropped down to P3 in the Group A standings. He would start Feature Race 5th. Furthermore, he was given a 5-place grid penalty for Saturday’s Sprint Race.

Ayumu Iwasa was another driver who improved his lap time under yellow flags. It was deleted too. The Japanese driver was down to 7th in the Group A standings and he would start Feature Race 13th. He was also given a 10-place grid penalty for Sprint Race.

Drugovich got to P1 in the Group A timesheets because of the penalties. His lap time was better than the result of the Group B leader Theo Pourchaire, which meant that the MP Motorsport driver would start Feature Race from pole position.

Olli Caldwell was handed a 3-place grid drop for Sprint Race for impeding Marino Sato.
