Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc says Red Bull had the pace advantage at the Miami Grand Prix after finishing P2.
The Ferrari driver started on pole but failed to capitalize on his position, as a charging Max Verstappen overtook the Monegasque and went on to win the glamorous race.
Speaking in the post-GP interviews, Leclerc admitted Ferrari’s struggles and expressed the importance of updates throughout the season.
“It was a very difficult race physically. We struggled quite a bit with the medium tires, especially in the first sting, I got overtaken and it made our race a bit more difficult from that moment.
“On the hards, we were very competitive, and towards the end, I felt I could get Max [Verstappen] at one point, but yeah, today they had the advantage in terms of pace.
“It was fun, it’s amazing to see so many people again, I kept saying it. It’s great to have so many Ferrari fans in the grandstands, so thank you for the support.
“We need to keep pushing, the upgrades will be very important throughout the year. And I hope now that we can make a step from the next race onwards, but it’s tight as it’s been the whole season and that’s what we would like to see.”
