Lewis Hamilton has spoken about the decision to join a consortium that intends to purchase Chelsea Football Club.
Reports emerged on Thursday that Hamilton and American tennis player Serena Williams contributed £10m each to a bid of an investment group that wants to take over Chelsea Football Club.
Hamilton confirmed his interest in becoming one of the club’s owners and explained why he made that decision.
“Naturally, I heard about it [the sale of Chelsea] on the news. Everyone’s obviously aware of it,” he stated.
“We were contacted, and Sir Martin [Broughton, the leader of the investment group] took the time to speak to me on the phone and explain his and his team’s goals for if they were to win the bid, which was incredibly exciting, and it was very much aligned with my values.”
