The Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff states that Romain Grosjean’s test session with the team will go ahead.
After a horrible crash at the 2020 Bahrain GP, Grosjean was offered to test a Mercedes car, so that his latest experience in a Formula 1 car would not be related to that accident. It was originally scheduled to take place at the 2021 French GP, but had to be canceled due to the restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier this year Grosjean revealed that Wolff texted him that “we need to get you in that car this year.” Later on, Wolff confirmed the plans.
“The test is going to happen for sure. We’ve committed to it. [We are seeing] what we can do and what he can do. But that is going to happen. When I give my word, I give my word,” he said.
