The Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto believes that Porsche’s and Audi’s possible F1 arrival is “good for the sport.”
The Volkswagen Group confirmed last week that they have the intention to join F1 with Porsche and Audi brands in 2026 and currently are in “the final phase of evaluation.” Binotto has shared his thoughts about it.
“We are very happy for Porsche and Audi to join F1,” the Ferrari team principal said.
“I think that’s great for the sport, it’s great for F1, and it’s great for us to compete with such brands, so overall, I think it’s good news which we need to be very happy with.”
At the same time, Binotto has confirmed that some details are yet to be agreed.
“There are still open points on financial regulations, because they need to be finalized and formalized.
“What is a newcomer? How do we define a newcomer? What are the benefits of a newcomer? All that needs to be clarified and defined.
“There are points on the technical [side] still having open discussions, so there are many things that need to be moved forward and finalized.
“From now to June, time is certainly very short, which means that we need to work on it as [a] high priority.”
