McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo said the new Formula 1 cars are delivering on their promises.

The Australian driver had a sad end to his Saudi Arabian Grand Prix as he had to retire from the race due to mechanical issues.

“I lost drive so it could be a lot of things,” he said. “Maybe driveshaft if I was to guess, but I’m no mechanic so don’t take my word for it.

“We could’ve had double points which would have been awesome from a week ago, but it was alright, we still have a lot to do but certainly [there was] some progress which is nice, and the racing is fine you know.

“Everything we hoped would come out of these cars is very true, so I’m very happy for that and it’s very awesome to see the racing for the lead. It’s very exciting so hopefully, we’ll be battling for bigger positions soon.”
